What’s the Current Status of Worldwide Coronavirus Vaccinations?

The year 2020 will be remember for many decades to come. It was a year that none of the people alive will ever forget in their lifetime. Everything from personal lives to how we conduct our business transactions changed. With such devastation caused by the pandemic, speculations started about the coronavirus vaccination right after it was declared a pandemic by WHO.

Everyone thought that once the vaccination was out, it would be really easy for things to go back to normal however things aren’t that simple. Firstly it takes decades to come up with a fully functional vaccination for any disease however with the pace at which the coronavirus was spreading at the start of 2020, it was the need of time to come up with a vaccination at record pace.

Soon after the pandemic, companies all over the world starting researching and working on developing a vaccination. Some companies did it all own their own while other had government help behind them. Due to the nature of the pandemic, a lot of companies were given the license to develop the vaccination. Frontrunners of the coronavirus vaccination are as following;

  • Moderna
  • Oxford/AstraZeneca
  • Pfizer/BioNTech
  • Sputnik V
  • Sinovac
  • Sinopharm

At the start of the pandemic all eyes were on Moderna and Pfizer to develop a vaccination. After months of research, trial and speculations companies started to roll out vaccinations. One thing to keep in mind is that not all vaccinations are equally effective. For example for the Pfizer vaccination, in order for it to be more than 90% effective, you need to get 2 dozes with a gap of 21 days. The above mentioned players were some of the bigger players in the world. Other than these companies other smaller companies and governments all over the world were working to develop their own coronavirus vaccinations as well.

The countries that have not developed a vaccination on their own or those who do not have a large volume of local vaccinations are now importing vaccinations from other countries.

All the companies mentioned above have been approved by their governments and their vaccination have already been used to vaccinate millions of people all over the world. Countries are being vaccinated at a high pace and some countries will be fully vaccinated before the others as the manufacturers of the vaccination will be vaccinating their own citizens first. The vaccination is being given to senior citizens and health care workers at first and with time it will be given to every age group. The vaccination is being administered for free however in some countries some private companies are also administering the vaccination however they are charging high amounts of money for it. So if you can’t wait for your number that the government has allotted you, you can always get the vaccination privately if you can afford it.

Some of the vaccinations have shown side effects which has caused people to avoid getting the vaccination however it is the need of time that everybody get vaccinated. None of the side effects are as dangerous as getting the virus itself. Some people feel headache or get fever and sometimes have numb limbs however the vaccinations being administered have been approved after thorough research. So the side effects being experienced may be because the person already has low immunity or certain other medical conditions.
