Like syphilis, Ron Paul is the gift that manages to keep on giving. Months after the fevered illusions of a “Ron Paul revolution” capturing the White House have faded among even the most wild-eyed of his supporters (and wild eyes seem to vastly outnumber sober ones there), the great “Dr. Paul” still keeps finding ways to insert his rants into the election season process. The latest comes in the form of a statement to the National Press Club, faithfully passed on by his relentless internet legions.
The codes in the formulaic Ron Paul stump format have now been repeated often enough that they can be easily broken down and translated for the amusement of fans of the peculiar brand of unintentionally comedic political self-parody that is the Ron Paul political (bowel) movement: (more…)

The Jerusalem Post says that a “senior member” of President Bush’s posse said that Bush and Dick Cheney said that military action against Iran is warranted.
In other news, the Chicago Cubs will win the World Series this year and al Qaeda has issued a public statement saying that the terrorist network is laying down its guns and will begin work rebuilding the World Trade Center starting June 1.

(In the spirit of The Onion)
Building on her claim that Obama’s nomination prospects are doomed in spite of his substantial lead in delegates and his control of key party committees, the Clinton campaign has now called upon John McCain to withdraw from the race. “Senator McCain has run an honorable campaign, but now it is time for him to bow to the inevitable,” said a fund-raising coordinator for the campaign. “We’ve already shown that we can overcome mathematics. McCain’s candidacy is over.” (more…)

Some humor to start off the day with a smile.
An 86-year-old man went to his doctor for his quarterly check-up…
When asked how he was feeling, the 86-year-old replied, “Things are just great and I’ve never felt better.’ I now have a 20 year-old bride who is pregnant with my child. ‘So what do you think about that Doc?” (more…)

Everyone should encourage their animals to start up their own blogs. They should then link up and make blog pals with other online animals. This past weekend my cat Oscar began his own blog. So I thought I’d give him some hits by sharing the link.
Go easy on him, he’s just starting out. Luckily there is spell check and that helps his paws with his typing. Any other cats out there with blogs let him know and he just might want to link up.

Book Review of Schulz and Peanuts: A Biography
I am really glad I decided to review Schulz and Peanuts: A Biography by David Michaelis. I had known a bit about Schulz in the past, in that he was somewhat a reclusive and quiet person, as well as melancholic. I had also wondered to what degree Charlie Brown played a part in being Schulz’s ‘alter ego’, and now after having read the book, I see how much a part his personal life made its way into his comic strips. Schulz, despite being a notorious self-doubter, knew from an early age that he wanted to be a comic strip artist. (more…)
Logan Murphy reports for Crooks and Liars that “[o]n Friday night’s ‘Countdown’ Keith announces the winner of the ‘D.C. Idol’ contest. This one registered a strong 11 on the Cringe-O-Meter.”
Some of the nominees:
- Hillary Clinton singing in the American national anthem
- John Ashcroft singing let the eagle soar
- Colin Powell and YMCS
- Karl Rove “I’m MC Rove”
- Bill Clinton and imagine
I know who won, I can only say that this person truly deserved to win. Go check it out!

H/t Joe
US president George W. Bush proved that he is a horrible dancer:
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FIuODSIuHLo]
Yeah - I think it is safe to say that Laura didn’t fall for Bush’s ‘moves’.
I appreciate this though: he interacts with the people, he shows that he does not take himself too seriously, etc.
It’s always good when politicians / leaders show that - in the end - they are human beings as well.

Now this is cool:
Venus Ramey, 82, confronted a man on her farm in south-central Kentucky last week after she saw her dog run into a storage building where thieves had previously made off with old farm equipment.
Ramey said the man told her he would leave. “I said, ‘Oh, no you won’t,’ and I shot their tires so they couldn’t leave,” Ramey said.
She had to balance on her walker as she pulled out a snub-nosed .38-caliber handgun.
“I didn’t even think twice. I just went and did it,” she said. “If they’d even dared come close to me, they’d be 6 feet under by now.”
After that, she “flagged down a passing motorist”, who called 911.
Can you imagine that intruder being in jail? They’re sharing their stories and that guy has to admit that an 82 year old did him in. An 82 year old woman even.

His most impressive and convincing argument?
Shoo… I can’t remember. Ah well, check it out for yourself, Joan, no, John, no well, youknowwho does a great job defending the much criticized US Attorney General.

The always hilarious Jon Swift has a great post up about Fred Thompson vs. Mahatma Ghandi: what America needs is a bit more violence. A little less conversation, a little more action.
Way to go Fred.

Be sure to check out the Saturday Cartoons (published) at Bob Geiger’s place yesterday, who is, by the way, one of my favorite progressive bloggers.
Whether you’re a conservative or liberal, Bush supporter or critic, you have to admit… some of them are incredibly funny.
Jeff Danziger’s cartoon is great, as is the one by Dwane Powell.
