Opinion: Iran’s Nuclear Energy Rights and Israel

Nowadays, Iran and its people are being threatened widely for a near, possible attack by the Israeli forces if Tehran continues pursuing its nuclear program. Additionally, the amount of media pressure against the country is increasing simultaneous to the rhetoric of Israeli officials, backed by U.S. statesmen.

Some western governments have implied they would support Israel Israel if it would carry out a bombardment of Iranian nuclear facilities because of the threatening nature of these installations.

White House people and the major EU members state frequently that they are looking for ways to help the process of global peace, stability and promote the international security by ridding the world from nuclear threats.

In the meantime, they refuse to pursue the lawsuit brought by the Iranian government against Israel for depositing 170 nuclear warheads. This figure is approved by the former US president, Ronald Reagan too.

According to an unwritten law, none of the global mainstream media are allowed or willing to investigate or write about the weapons of mass destruction Israel owns, and its exact figures which have been issued by the Federation of American Scientists and republished by many other independent sources.

However, while the Israeli regime itself is under international pressure about the details of its nuclear arsenal and program, and the occupation of Palestinian lands on the other hand, it is lobbying actively to make some troubles for Iran.

It is not clear what the role and position of Israel in the nuclear case of Iran are. Israel is neither a member of the UNSC nor did it sign the NPT. It is one of only three countries in the world that did not join that agreement.

Regarding the article VII of UN charter, none of the member countries are allowed to threaten the sovereignty, security or interests of other members in any way until a UNSC resolution is brought, but the Israeli statesmen are violating this article under the flag of US without raising any concern.

Nobody asks that is Israel really rightful to threat Iran even in words by using its affiliated media such as CNN, FOXNews, Reuters and propagating falsified facts about the dangerousness of Iran to for the international community?

The global public opinions also are being infected by this war of the words, declaring Iran a threat to global peace and security, regardless to the historical facts that show the Iranian governments and people never occupied or attacked any other country during the past 7500 years.

With having these facts in mind, there are some important and vital questions that every conscious and wise human must think about and search proper answers for, and I want to propound on them as an independent and freelance writer:

1- Why doesn’t Israel join the NPT? What are the distinctions of Israel to other countries in the world that nobody dares to ask questions about its weapons of mass destruction? Why doesn’t the IAEA take any serious action to disarm Israel, to rid it of its nuclear weapons?

2- It is witnessed that most of international radio channels, TV stations and joint media propagate the idea of attacking Iran and its people explicitly. Isn’t it contrary to human rights, international regulations and media virtues to encourage the sparking of a new world war by inflaming the blazes of battle?

3- Who cares about the official advertisement of belligerence in state media? Which is it the professional duty of media? to prevent wars or to spark them?

4- Is Israel really capable of altercating with Iran? Referring to 2008 CIA factbook, Iran is placed 8th in the world ranking of total number of active troops passing Egypt, France, United Kingdom, Italy and Germany while Israel stands 31st. According to the same source, Iran again stands 8th in the world ranking of size of armed forces while Israel takes the 30th berth. Israeli officials also announced that they are aware of the 600 Iranian missiles pointed to Tel Aviv since 2005 in order to hit back when attacked.

The new generation of Iranian Shahab-3, which is a domestic-produced ballistic missile equipped to cover a distance of 2000 Kilometers - that is approximately from Tehran to Berlin. Also the Iranian commander of air forces has pledged that any Israeli strike on Iran would be responded with 10,000 Shahab-3 missiles being fired at Tel Aviv, Israel’s official capital.

But with regards to the military strength of Iran, can anyone give an example of aggression in its history? Iran has a 7500 years old civilization but nobody can find a example of Iranians invading other countries during its long and rich history.

It seems that Israel and US politicians and diplomats are educated enough to know that any possible attack on Iran would lead to a new world war with irretrievable consequences resulting in repentance and regret only.

Iran is a sovereign and historical country that has the right to pursue a peaceful nuclear energy program as well as to develop other modern technologies to solve its electricity shortage problem and improving its scientific abilities, but motivating and insulting the Iranian nation in media by aggressing black propaganda, calling them “terrorists” and setting the mental wars will undoubtedly lead to some unsatisfactory results for the world.

Not in my role as an Iranian journalist, but as a regular observer of international developments instead, it seems to me that the global community has no way but to accept Iranians are a peaceful and harmless people who answer to the enemies decisively, having the right to employ new technologies like all of their neighboring countries, so it would be more appropriate to deal with them without discrimination and bias.
