Sarah Palin Steps Up Attacks Against Barack Obama

October 7th, 2008 By: Michael van der Galien | Tags:

While campaigning in Florida on Monday, Governor Sarah Palin stepped up the attacks against Senator Barack Obama, the Democratic nominee for the presidency. Speaking before a huge and passionate crowd the governor once again pointed the relationship between Obama and U.S. domestic terrorist Bill Ayers out, and portrayed Obama as anti-American.

“I was reading my copy of the New York Times the other day,” she said. “[A]nd I was really interested to read about Barack’s friends from Chicago.”

“Now it turns out, one of his earliest supporters is a man named Bill Ayers,” Palin said.

“And, according to the New York Times, he was a domestic terrorist and part of a group that, quote, ‘launched a campaign of bombings that would target the Pentagon and our U.S. Capitol,’” she continued.

“Obama held one of the first meetings of his political career in Bill Ayers’s living room, and they’ve worked together on various projects in Chicago.” Palin went on to connect the dots. “These are the same guys who think that patriotism is paying higher taxes — remember that’s what Joe Biden had said. “And” — she paused and sighed — “I am just so fearful that this is not a man who sees America the way you and I see America, as the greatest force for good in the world. I’m afraid this is someone who sees America as ‘imperfect enough’ to work with a former domestic terrorist who had targeted his own country.”

As if that was not enough, Senator John McCain himself also went after Obama personally on Monday, accusing him of ‘aiding and abetting’ Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac for handing out loans to poor people who could not pay said loans back, when push came to shove.

The new Republican strategy, which will be employed through the month of October, is aimed as depicting Obama as a radically progressive politician from the corrupt city of Chicago. Whether they will succeed in doing so remains to be seen, but recent research by Real Clear Politics indicates that it could be a winning strategy. American voters are, polls show, sensitive to investigation into Obama’s associations.

October will probably be spent blasting at each other - for Democrats and Obama are fighting back; the Obama campaign launched a grand project about the “Keating Five” recently and leading Democrats such as Barney Frank are accusing McCain of racism - and throwing as much mud at the wall as possible, hoping something will stick. The tone of the political debate will continue to deteriorate not because both men want to play it dirty, but because not playing dirty results in losing elections.

Everybody needs to understand that regardless of who is actually at fault for this financial mess, it happened with a Republican administration in office which clearly means that the Republicans are at fault.  That’s really all you need to know about it.  Who really cares about the actual facts involved?  Also, since the Republicans are responsible for this, and since John McCain is a Republican, then he is also directly responsible.  Even if Barrack Obama’s economic plan was completely insane, all Americans should vote for him because he didn’t directly create this problem the way George W. Bush and John McCain did.  Obama conjures up feelings of hope and Americans should vote based on their feelings and not on the issues and credentials of the candidates.     Lastly, everybody should understand that the mainstream media plays no role in how anything in this country ever turns out.  They are all objective, honest, straightforward people with no motive other than bringing the American public unbiased reports.  They never incorporate any of their personal opinions in their reporting.  They don’t care about ratings which is why they’re all so honest.  Everybody should blindly trust them.

Whoa! Way to kill two birds with one stone, Sarah!
Not only did she get to rip on Obama, she also proved that she reads. I like how after that Katie Couric interview on what she reads (Uh… All of them.) She smoothly tosses in how she was reading her copy of the new york times yesterday.
    Well played, bitch.

There’s a very serious charge being made (and I suspect, being falsely made) concerning this rally. Dana Milbank has reported that during Palin’s coments in Clearwater, as the audience responded with boos to her comments about the NYT piece on Obama and Ayers, a man in the crowd shouted "Kill him!"

Now Shaun Mullen predictably picks up on this (Joe Gandleman also posted yesterday) and Shaun embellishes by saying that not only did a man shout this, but the crowd then started cheering and Palin remained silent.
Here’s the video; the relevant portion starts at about 6:28. Judge for yourself: does anyone hear someone making that threat? Certainly not the cheering part that Mullen claims.
This is very serious IMO. Quite potentially a MSM reporter is making something up which is very inflammatory, in order to scare the McCain campaign into backing off of this legitimate angle of attack against Obama. If I’m right about that, someone has to call Milbank to task on it- either present some evidence or corroboration that this happened, or retract.
If I’m wrong and it really happened that way, then it still ought to be looked at further because seemingly the Secret Service ought to look into it.

TO THE MEDIA: You folks have no idea the danger into which you are placing yourself and America. If you think that Senator Barack Obama is just another politician who believes that he can improve the world, you are sadly mistaken. He is a dedicated Marxist-Socialist who believes that the few should govern the many according to their manifesto. Our Constitution will be trashed, because it is based on the principles written within the bible. All rights will now come from the state. I firmly believe his power of delivery comes from Satan himself. Who else but Satan (Disciple Barack Obama) wants to forbid states form limiting abortions and also transferring tax payer dollars to abortionist by his co-sponsor of the Freedom of Choice Act. Who else but Satan (Disciple Barack Obama) would criticized the Supreme Court for its 2007 decision upholding the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act. Who else but Satan (Disciple Barack Obama) would vote to allow Live-Birth Abortion when he blocked the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act when it came up in the Illinois Senate many times. Who else but Satan (Disciple Barack Obama) would have a 100% pro-abortion rating from NARAL Who else but Satan’s followers (Disciple Barack Obama) would be disciples of Marxist Saul Alinsky who wrote (Rules for Radicals-dedicated to Satan), the bible for community organizing. Who else but followers of Satan (Disciple Barack Obama) would for twenty years be tethered to a hate filled peddler of Marxism, Jeremiah Wright who hates America (A nation founded on Christian Principles) Marx believed that man is superior to God and therefore has no allegiance to Him. (Satanic)._ Evidently, you like Christopher Hitchens believe that you can be politically correct (new bible) and go into eternity with impunity. (Satanic) Again, you folk are sadly mistaken.

    Hay Ben,

No, no. . .I’m over here. Sorry.  Wasn’t sure you could see me.  You seem to have vision difficulties.

Without anything more than your first line, I can deduce that you’re a Palin-drone.

Let’s be clear; the PRIMARY function of the VP is to assume the duties of the Presidency, should some tragedy befall the  Commander in Chief. Secondly, the VP is called upon to cast a Senatorial vote, should the Senate be deadlocked on a vote.

Let’s start with assuming the Presidency.  This woman is not fit to run the country.  If you think she is, I would very much enjoy hearing your supporting arguments.  Mine go a little like this:  She’s a God Warrior.  That alone tells me she should be nowhere near a position of power.  We separate the two (church & State) for a good reason. For supporting sentiment please see ANY Theocratic society.

Her values are different publicly than they are even within her own family unit.  Track, her soldier son, was given an option, jail or the military.  This is what happens when you deal drugs and are the Governors son.  How about Bristol, her daughter, who is pregnant at 17? Did the irony of her boyfriend being invited to the RNC because he had pre-marital sex strike you as odd? Where do these line up with her proclaimed ‘family values’?

Just one Americans opinion, but I’ve got tons of back-up, which will be more than apparent to you post November 5th!

I am of the opinion that McCain chose her only after realizing he had virtually no shot at winning this thing. Stir things up, have a woman on the ticket, make a little history (although, Geraldine Ferraro actually belonged on the 88′ ticket), some headlines, maybe, if he’s lucky, get tapped from accross the aisle to, in some small token capacity, be a part of the Obama/Biden administration.

The Senatorial vote function, well, I’m betting that IS something she could handle, if not only after a week of ‘Senate Vote Camp’!

In response to the attacks on Barack Obama about his unwillingness to relive and comment on his college years and subsequent thessus (and his unwillingness to discuss or illuminate on any personal relationships he had at school in anyway). The way I see it, going to university is an opportinity to grow and this involves lessons learnt that last of a life time,it is  a voyage of personal discovery. It’s one genuine moment(real or imagined) in this crazy life when young people(or like minded)have the confidence and energy to truly think they can change the world into a better place (if they can or not is just not important it’s thinking it that is important). Some crazy ideas emerge, some dangerous friendships take root, all around are newly formed and questions and ideals. Thoughts like of, "If People are inherintly good and kind why is there so much suffering in the world","Look, everybody knows war is wrong, why are we alway in one or another","One person can make a difference, why can’t I?"The more political, intelligent and alienated among the  students will seek to explore even more theoretical radical material such as,"Maybe this corrupt and unfair system that has a privilaged few(supported by a bloated beaurocracy that justifies it’s own existence with it’s own existence)lording it over us is un-American but what else but the almighty capitalist system works.Instead of Barons they are called Captains of Industry. The knights of old are the lawyers and bankers. The workers are the serfs. The class system is alive and well in the great USA". Perhaps Obama’s thessus was/is a revelation into the psycological doings and froings of the world. It’s probably as boring as watching "Days of our life".Soviet demilitarism…Uhhm..O.K.Boring. What relivence could a paper about the Cold War have in 2008?"It is with the advent of the internet and modern communication that has nearly iradicated the almost lemming-like mass response phenomonon that even the Roman’s knew of,"the mob".It was  fathers and grandfathers century that were betrayed by their laeders. One can blindly lead millions with a lie.It is all mankinds legacy that if not for those who oppose ignorance, hatred, envy and wrong then we are doomed. Some dangerous ideas will no doubt rear thier ugly heads,eg.Nazism,Facism,Rasism and Terrorist factions have always causes problems but thankfully these are the minority in USA.  Despite being important infrastructure the univercityies of the world are essential research facilities and libraries. If not for the interference of various religions throughout history;Who knows? Do people really still believe in some kind of all knowing eye-spirit in the sky? The Pope locked up Galileo for his scientific views.Science was against God,whatever that means it had to be stopped lest the people start to question. The catholic church is responsible for more deaths than Hitler,Stalin,Influenza 1920 Europe and BlackDeath circa 1400-1600 combined. In Germany 1933-1945,people could not write what they wanted for fear of offending the state, free thinking was crushed, civil rights extinguished and hell followed. What was Obamas crime when we don’t even know what was in his PHD thessus. At worst this suggests a solitary and private man, a man who has made it clear that he will seek to live as normal a life as possible, he will be President so how private he will be able to live remains to be seen. So,as yet,as far as I know, in no American Court ruling can I find a case that compelled a person to publish thier thessus for general view. Sean Hannity’s reasoning is if I was to keep something to myself then a major conspiracy is underway. Maybe Obama thought the thessus was crap and is hesitant to show it around because of that.He will say that we should know everything about Presidential Candidates. I agree to a point.?Could he be turned into a Russian superspy?Sexual orientatian? Is he a deep cover spy, a traitor? Come on!As to who Sen. Obama was mixing with at school, put up or shut up, name names, prove known terrorists have ever aquainted with the senator.I bet a lot of perfectly repectable 30-60 y.o.s would run a mile from an embarasing old flame or decades old former-friends. I’m a white guy and I must admit I find Obama’s reverend Wright to be an extremist in his opinions and careless, if not downright malicious and hateful, in his rhetoric. The word that comes to my mind is evil, it’s so scary in fact that I’m amazed Wright hasn’t been charged with anti-racist,promoting racial hatred and inciting violence legislation. But,has anyone heard thes vile words coming from the lips of Barack Obama? No. Has he distanced himself from Wright?Yes. Is Barack Obama a racist? The general idea behind his P.H.D. thesus which some would lead us to believe is the world’s foremost ‘Terrorist Manual’. It was in fact a study into Soviet disarmament. An important study at the time,"A positive world without M.A.D. and Trillion dollar defence budgets is a world to strive to create". Unfortunately,911 was hijacked by fear mongers(Fox and it’s government driven newsroom) and huge defence and security corporations were more than willing to keep the panic simmering. All the time assuring the by now compliant public that "Don’t worry we’ll be taking care of everything". When Obama wrote his thessus he was a free citizen of the U.S.A. He is potected under several amendments in the American Constitution. Free speech being the main issue, it’s not as some think,"that it’s just what you want to hear".When actually,’it’s what someone has to say"(It’s not called freedom of hearing). The way the republicans are going after Barack Obama is pointless and it smacks of desperation and is especially petty to the almost rabid acusors. Some are blinded by there own self-importance and the influence they think they have. A human instinct is to support the little guy and from this you get the phenomonon of subconsciously disliking continual baseless(or tenuous) derogatoratory rheteric. A (to Sean Hannity, its embarrising to hear such bias from an otherwise fine journalist). No good can come of it unless, of course, the dirt-dredgers find a secret manifesto in the vain of, Adolph Hitler and his Nazis thug’s, Mien Kamph(sic) that shows Obama is plotting with a cabal of  confederated minorities(an oxymoron) to bring about the destruction of the caucasian age.Even if Obama was to write a thessus on ,"How Russia could win the cold war". So what? It was an assignment given to him by the powers that be. It was a hyperthetical on Soviet demilitarization, this would imply a man ahead of his time as it was to be a long time before Glasnost and Perastroika. Bush lead the U.S.A. to war not the Democrats,

Palin is very very lacking in credibility after all her lies, but she can’t be blamed if a moron goes of braying treason and death threats. Her words werepredictably out there and pandering, but I can’t see it as ripping up such hatred with intention. She can be blamed if she hears it and goes "aw shucks", and she should also be blamed if she doesn’t go out after hearing that such a thing snuck under her hearing without retroactively saying "Stop that kind of horrible talk, please."

I don’t have the internet speed to see the video, so I’ll wait for a reliable site to make a written evaluation - AFAIK both McCain and Palin are supposed to have had some unpleasant statements at recent rallies, but I am realizing that the closer I get to the election the less I can trust anyone.

As I see it, both McCain and Obama could lose lots of respect in my eyes if certain stories turn out to be true (I won’t go with the word of a single CNN reporter regarding Ayers, but I am very amused by left-wing bloggers attempts to get indignated over this "killing"/"treason"/sit down, boy" business without bothering to get first-hand experience), but I was for Obama ever since I got to examine the candidates’ policies (not their characters, which seem to be quite poor) and the Palin selection showed me just what McCain represents.

I don’t care much about the idea of punishing candidates for not correcting their pasts rather than going with policies. Keating and Ayers are equivalent to me, and boring.

simmo, that appears to have taken you an awfully long time to type, and yet I have no idea why you felt it was important to say it. Has anyone here or elsewhere been harping on Obama’s thesis? I do seem to remember a couple of quick mentions of it earlier in the campaign, but if it’s important at all it’s only because of a pattern of Obama’s past being carefully managed for public consumption.

At issue right now is why Obama refuses to talk about the work he did as board president of an education foundation founded by Ayers, an admitted and unrepentant domestic terrorist who espouses far left ideology and a stated desire to use the educational system to further that ideology. And why anyone who questions this politically relevant experience of Obama’s is met with a response that is obviously meant to deflect attention from the questions themselves and silence the questioner by attacking his motivation for wanting to know these things.

    Sounds like "boo" to me.

Yet, after all their harping about the main stream media, and Palin’s jibe at them Thursday night, she goes on to quote a New York Times article at length.

Huh?  What’s the message here, guys?  They bad news or not?

So, If Obama is guilty by association. Why isn’t the president of The University of Illinois a terrorist since he allows Ayers to work there? Why aren’t the Faculty and staff that work there not terrorist because they work with Ayers? Why aren’t the parents that pay tuition for thier children to attend and posibly be taught by Ayers terrorist? Why aren’t the other members of the board that Ayers and Obama worked on not terrorist? I don’t understand how it stops with Obama if this is a big deal. How can people stand for him educating you minds if he’s Baby Bin Laden? I really don’t understand it. Does anyone care to help me out on this?
