Obama Served on Board with Ayers When Ayers Stepped on US Flag

October 6th, 2008 By: Michael van der Galien | Tags:

Politifact has found that Senator Barack Obama may try to distance himself from domestic terrorist Bill Ayers now, and that his friends in the MSM may try to downplay the relationship between the two men, but that Obama actually served on a board with Ayers until late in 2001. This means that Obama served on the Woods Foundation’s board after Ayers said that he did not regret his past terrorist activities and believed he did not do enough. He also desecrated the American flag.

Still, Obama continued to serve on the board.

This, once again, makes clear that the relationship between Ayers and Obama went further than Obama has been willing to admit publicly thus far, and it should also cause more people to ask Obama about it. Why was it, Mr. Obama, that you served on a board with Ayers after the latter said he had no regrets - except for “not doing enough” - and desecrating the flag of the United States? Why did you serve on this board in the first place? Didn’t you know that Ayers was a domestic terrorist once, who still supports his radicalism of decades ago and his terrorist activities? Didn’t you know that Ayers runs several radical organizations, all aimed at convincing African Americans that they are oppressed by the ‘white majority,’ and aimed at reforming the educational system in such a way that students will start to ‘rebel’ against the government and structure of society? If you didn’t know this, why the hell did you work for his organizations in the first place? And, if you didn’t know this, what does this tell us about your judgment?

I think the real question is how much influence Ayers actually had on this board.  I’ve seen conflicting reports of his actual position.  If Ayers was a lightweight on the board, it could gives some suggestion as to why he continued to serve.

Ooh, some research for me to do.

Opps, I posted this to the wrong story before…Big story on this tonight on Anderson Cooper 360. Suprised to see CNN covering this. Talked about Ayers / Obama, and Wright conncetions to the the Annenberg Chllenge project, and Woods fund. And how Ayers / Obama’s paths crossed an aweful lot over the years for their knowlege of each other to be just coincidence.

William Ayers is a professor of education at the University of Illinois at Chicago, with whom Barack served on the board of an education-reform organization in the mid-1990’s. According to the Associated Press, they are not close: “No evidence shows they were “pals” or even close when they worked on community boards years ago …” (http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D93KD6Q00&show_article=1)

Smear groups and now the McCain campaign are trying to connect Obama to acts Ayers committed 40 years ago - when Barack was just eight years old. Here’s what the New York Times reported on the connection (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/04/us/politics/04ayers.html)

But the two men do not appear to have been close. Nor has Mr. Obama ever expressed sympathy for the radical views and actions of Mr. Ayers, whom he has called “somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago, when I was 8.”

Barack has publicly denouncedAyers’ radical actions from the 1960’s (http://blog.washingtonpost.com/fact-checker/2008/02/obamas_weatherman_connection.html):

Senator Obama strongly condemns the violent actions of the Weathermen group, as he does all acts of violence. But he was an eight-year-old child when Ayers and the Weathermen were active, and any attempt to connect Obama with events of almost forty years ago is ridiculous.
