Amazing Britain
Amazing things are happening in Britain for those of us with a conservative heart; especially for those of us living in Europe.
You see, Prime Minister Gordon Brown, of the new Labor party, is increasingly losing support. Only a very small minority of the British people believe he is doing a good job, and if elections were held today, the conservative Tories would win with ease; they would receive approximately 30% of the vote more than the Laborites.
Additionally, the Tories have something today they did not have for almost two decades: a charismatic leader who is able to inspire the British people and to convince them that conservative policies are exactly what the doctor ordered for their country.
David Cameron is rapidly turning into the greatest Tory leader since Margaret Thatcher, with the difference that Thatcher was hated by many. Cameron is simply too likeable to be hated. Some may disagree with his policies, but they cannot possibly hate the man. He’s simply too reasonable and to much of a gentleman to arouse downright anger, let alone hatred.
Thatcher was, at times, a bully. She took on critics in a fashion seldom seen before in modern British politics. She was the “Iron Lady,” when push came to shove she forced people to do what she wanted them to do, for if they would not they would have no other option but the highway.
Cameron appears strong, but he is not someone who will kick anyone to the curb, let alone ‘bully’ them. He’s the kind of strong leader, it seems, who does not need to be a bully. He can get things done without threatening, without bullying, without threatening. He simply convinces others to do as asked.
It are going to be a fun couple of years for conservatives in Europe generally, and in Britain specifically. If Cameron continues to lead the Tories with as much success as he has thus far, he will be able to change the course of his country tremendously and his conservative success will have its effects outside Britain’s borders as well; it will make it more likely that countries like the Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain, and so on will also vote for conservative candidates and parties – these candidates and parties, in turn, will learn from Cameron’s success and will use some of his strategies and views for their own benefit.
