Newsweek: Obama’s Questionable Donors

October 5th, 2008 By: Michael van der Galien | Tags:

My, my, it seems that Newsweek considers it time to actually investigate Barack Obama a bit, and then especially accusations originating from the blogosphere that Obama may have received money from foreign donors - not American citizens living in foreign countries, but foreign citizens living in foreign countries with no right to vote in the United States - and has received many dollars from individuals who do not exist. For instance: ‘Good Will,’ or HKVKV, K VKN K V from the city of KHVKHVHKVHKV.

“Good Will” of Austin, Texas, gave more than $11,000 to Obama. “Doodad Pro” of Nunda, N.Y. gave even more: $17,130. Another individual, HDUSAHFD, DAHSUDHU, gave $7,597.59 in July and August of this year.

Interesting about these donors is that they:

1. Aren’t real people - well, their names are fake

2. Have donated much more than the limit of $2,300

The Obama campaign, meanwhile, is not doing anything to return the money to these individuals - the process of giving money back is horrendously slow, and the Obama campaign does everything in its power to stall giving the money back.

As if the above is not enough, the Obama campaign has also been supported by foreigners living in the Middle East. These Middle Easterners have donated hundreds of thousands, probably more, to the Obama campaign. There is one problem if one wants to find out how much exactly (some estimage we’re talking about many millions here): the Obama campaign is not willing to release information about individuals who donated less than $200 (per donation).

For those who are wondering:

1. accepting more than $2,300 from an individual is illegal

2. accepting any money from non-US citizens is also illegal

    Michael,

I’ve made my first YouTube video and I’m passing it around : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-At8dnobso

It focuses on how Obama isn’t honest when he says he isn’t taking money from lobbyists; how he’s playing a shell game; its called "Change with an Asterisk", alluding to a quote by someone from a non partisan group, the Campaign Finance Institute, who was interviewed in the LA Times:

"He gets an asterisk that says he is trying to be different. But overall, the same wealthy interests are funding his campaign as are funding other candidates, whether or not they are lobbyists."

  2. redfish i didn’t see this comment till now.nice vid - but where’s the sound after the firt 20 secs?

    Michael

The video clip I was working with was too short to play for the amount of time I needed, so I spliced it so it loops between the same clips, and put it on mute.

He actually starts talking for s a short bit about Hillary Clinton taking money from lobbyists at the point where the mute starts, I decided to cut off at that, so its not specific to the primary race.

I also figured the message could be: you shouldn’t care about what Obama is saying, because it’s not honest.

Maybe it needs a sound effect?

  5. Yeah i was thinking the same thing - that the message was, you don’t need to hear him speak, it’s all ‘blahblahblah’ anyways. That’s a good point, but the silence goes on a bit too long I think - it’s a video, use the power of this medium to its fullest.

Sound effect: how about slowing down Obama words so much that it sounds very low, etc.? You know, like slow motion. Is that possible? It will end up ‘blaaaaaaaaaaahblaaaaaaaaahblaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" and then the possible mute.

Does that sound like an idea?

Or use something like the soundtrack from Peanuts cartoons when the adults speak: "Waaah- waaah, wwanh waaaaah, wwwhaanh wah." ;-)
