Biden Should Not be Vice President
Lets stop talking about potential presidents for a moment. Instead, let us talk about potential vice presidents. Sarah Palin has received enough attention in recent weeks, so I won’t write about her now either, however. Therefore; lets talk Joe Biden.
Biden hasn’t gotten a lot of media attention since it was announced he’d be Barack Obama’s running mate, but he deserves a whole lot of attention.
You see, in only a couple of days weeks time Biden has proved himself to be completely incapable of being Vice President. He ripped an ad of the Obama campaign, calling it terrible. He then had retract his words pretending he had not seen the ad. He admitted that Hillary Clinton would have been a better pick for Obama he. He also said he and Obama opposed clean coal energy, even though Obama supports it.
As if that’s not enough, he told wheelchair-bound Missouri politician Chuck Graham to “stand up” at a rally.
He also said he and Obama opposed bailing out AIG, while Obama supported it. McCain opposed it, but later changed his position, or at least accepted the judgment of the Bush administration to bail it investment bank out. Obama then proceeded to accuse McCain of flip-flopping… until “Today”’s Matt Lauer confronted Obama with the earlier statement of his running mate. Obama’s answer: “I think Joe should have waited, as well.”
Lest we forget, Biden also made a great impression by saying that it was time for the rich to be patriotic. “It’s time to be patriotic,” he said. “Time to jump in, time to be part of the deal, time to help get America out of the rut.” The McCain campaign obviously used this against this against Biden and Obama, and will use it time and again in the coming weeks. All the more so because it is in breach with Obama’s stated preference of lowering taxes for the middle class instead of higher taxes for the rich as such; he tries to present himself as someone who is going to help the middle class, not as someone who’s planning to go after the rich.
Biden either doesn’t know what Obama’s positions are, or he doesn’t care. Or he’s just incapable of controlling himself. Whatever the case, he’s clearly a man who should not be vice president; he’ll be a drain on Obama, and he’ll cause one controversy after another. Imagine what would happen if someone happens to Obama and Biden would have to replace him. You guys sure you want Biden in charge of your country? Imagine he makes one of his famous gaffes when talking to a major foreign leader?
Palin may not be ready for the vice presidency, but Biden isn’t either. Sadly, commentators - and I blame myself as well - have not spent enough time informing the public about this stupidity, gaffes, and weaknesses.

to the author: This is America, out elections are a contest. someone must win. Are you suggesting Palin would make a better VP than Biden? I certaily hope not unless you plan to do a side by side comparison, but by suggesting Biden should NOT be VP, you are defaulting to Palin. Using logic in this article, Plain can not possibly be better ofr this country.
Try again
Jason,
I see no reason anyone would be confident with Biden. He’s had a lot of experience with foreign relations in the Senate, but if you look at his record, his judgment has been flaky. He continued to push Jimmy Carter’s policy of detente throughout Reagan’s term, as Reagan was helping win the Cold War through an arms race. His suggestion on the US unilaterally splitting Iraq into three regions was ridiculous. When discussing what to do with Iran, he made an off the cuff suggestion of sending $200 million with no strings attatched. He brags about he "wrote" the Patriot Act, because he brought up a similar piece of legislation a few years before.
I don’t know how anyone could trust Biden being a heart beat away from the Presidency. If he were President we’d have a lot to worry about. But then again, I don’t think Biden would be capable of winning a Presidential election himself, ever.
Better Biden than the disaster known as HRC.
In either case, it’s a mute point. Biden is the Democrat VP nominee.
Firstly, let’s drop both McCain and Biden, and call it even.
Secondly, who needs the office of the VP? Or, are you afraid of Nancy Pelosi? OK, we can drop her, too, but give me Steny Hoyer.
I agree with Interested. Both Biden and Obama are ESPECIALLY dangerous to America when it comes to foreign policy. Palin has been raked over the coals enough. People need to give just as much thought to Biden as well.
