Venezuela Expels Human Rights Activists

September 19th, 2008 By: Michael van der Galien | Tags:

Venezuela expelled two human rights activists on Friday, marking a further worsening of the U.S. - Venezuelan relations.

The foreign ministry said Jose Miguel Vivanco, Human Rights Watch Americas director, and his deputy Daniel Wilkinson had committed “serious violations” and were, as a result, told to leave the country immediately.
The expulsion came hours after the two men had presented a report about the state of human rights in Venezuela.

HRW concluded in its report that Venezuela’s President Hugo Chavez had “weakened democratic institutions and human rights guarantees” during his years in power.

“Discrimination on political grounds has been a defining feature of the Chavez presidency,” it went on to say.

The government “has tolerated, encouraged and engaged in wide-ranging acts of discrimination” against members and supporters of the opposition, it concluded.

To which Chavez responded by expelling the two activists and ordering his spokespuppets to accuse the two human rights activists of violating “the constitution and the laws” of Venezuela and “illegally interfered in the country’s internal affairs.”

This ‘interference’ was, of course, pointing out that Chavez is turning into a little dictator.

Now, a wannabe dictator would probably consider that “illegal interference” indeed. Which basically proves their point.

Perhaps Chavez’s recent actions will convince progressives in the West that he is not a man to be celebrated. Chavez is not a Latin American hero deserving of respect and praise. He is a wannabe dictator who wants to bully his opponents into doing what he considers best… for his country or himself isn’t clear yet.

Just another example of the LOUD MOUTH MINI DICTATOR trying to flex his muscles by kicking out or arresting anyone who questions his Facist Regime. America’s not perfect an theres alot we need to fix but HUGO is as bad as Iran’s President, nxt he’ll agree the Holocaust never happened an he’ll grant himself even more sweeping powers over his people, he’s just trying to deflect blame on the US to avoid his crap Economy an Joblessness.
Wake up people of Venezuela & send this wanna be Mussolini packing. I hope the Military Revolts an the majority of Venezuelan citizen’s realize how you’ve been pulling the wool over there eyes an kick you out. I wish we had done the same thing to Bush but guess what your just as bad of a President as he is, at least he can’t keep running for President over an over agian by fixing the ballots or changing the Constitution to help yourself stay in power. This is petty but Hugo Chavez looks just like a fat toad who everytime he opens his mouth at a U.N. meeting the rest of the members sigh cause all he talks about is Bush this an Bush this, why not mention positive things on helping your own country instead of blaming the US for your problems.

Oh, finally they got guts to expel them. HRW is a organization to promote US interests in other countries, and US critical interest in Latin America is… oil. They need a puppet government like in Iraq or Georgia to control the oil, and they need to create instability for this. They best way to do it is under the HRW cover, and if you try to interfere, you will be criticized for it by the whole world. Everyone (I mean politics in power) understands what HRW is but everyone is afraid to touch them b/c of their image of protector of human rights. You will be called a dictator and there will be sanctions imposed on your country.
