Biden: I’m Going to Raise Taxes Because My Church Told Me To
How quickly would the MSM have jumped on this statement had Sarah Palin made it?
“Catholic social doctrine as I was taught it is, you take care of people who need the help the most,” he said. “Now it’d be different if you could make the case to me that by giving this tax cut to the very wealthy, everybody else was going to be better off. We saw what happened the last eight years when we gave that tax cut.”
It wasn’t Sarah Palin who said that, though. It was Joe Biden, whose…interesting…belief that his religious belief should be the law of the land is likely not to draw much outrage at all from the usual suspects on the left.
I wonder what section of the Bible he might use that tells us that we should use the power of the government to take money from our neighbors and give it to people we think deserve it more?

Keep talkin’ Joe
One can’t dispute Joe on the argument of CST as taking care of those less fortunate than you. I went to Catholic schools for 8 years and no where do I see in CST that one should use the power of the federal government to take other people’s money at gun point to spend on the less fortunate. Why does it have to be the government?
Why can’t it be individuals voluntarily contributing to worthwhile causes? Look at Obama’s taxes returns and the amount he has donated to charity in light of his and his wife’s large salaries. I think you will be surprised at how little they donated. In addition, I think research shows that conservatives on average donate way more than liberals to charitable causes.
As a Catholic, you use both the Bible AND the teachings of Church. So he would be likely not to cite the Bible, but Encyclicals on social doctrine, here they are:
