Joe Biden’s Daughter Arrested

September 6th, 2008 By: Michael van der Galien | Tags:

The daughter of Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Del., was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of obstructing a police officer back in 2002. Ashley Blazer Biden, 21 years old, was with a group of people on a North Side street (where many bars are located) when one member of the group threw a bottle to a police officer.

Police then tried to arrest another member of the group at which moment Ashley Biden stepped in. She ‘blocked the officer’s path and made intimidating statements, officer JoAnn Taylor said.’

The young Biden was later released, and appeared in court September 20 of that year.

Senator Biden’s camp was asked about the affair by several journalists. ‘Spokeswoman, Margaret Aitken, declined to comment Saturday, calling it a private, family matter,’ which it is indeed is.

As the person who e-mailed me the story, however, asked: where are the flashy headlines in the American media?

They spent hundreds of articles on Sarah Palin’s husband’s sins, dating back from 1986, and the pregnancy of her 17-year old daughter, implying that Palin may have been to busy with her career to be a good mother.

Since Biden is a man, however, the rules do not seem to apply. This happened in 2002, sure, but if it was Palin’s daughter, or son, the media would be all over it.

H/t Jonathan Wilson.

And they kept attacking Sarah Palins daughter for simply being pregnant by her fiance.

Well Joe Biden’s daughter attacked police, that’s much worse in moral standards.

This seems to be worse of a "crime" than being pregnant while 17 :)

I think the American media is scrambling for any crumb of information because Sarah hasn’t held a press conference or answered any questions about her political rulings in the past. I think she’s a lovely and interesting woman, but I am becoming more curious about some of the political choices she made as mayor and governor. I don’t know if I can completely trust her until she speaks to these.

The story was from 2002 BTW.

I cannot take Biden seriously because of the plagiarism of Neil Kinnock’s speeches back in the 1980s. I just don’t know why he chose Kinnock, the infamous “Welsh windbag” of all people….

Nope they do not Dustin which is why you do not see me rail against Biden, calling him a terrible father, etc. It’s merely meant to show the bias of the media. Difficult to accept that huh?

I believe with the Obama camp. From day 1, Barack stated the family is off limits. Don’t you remember how he and his wife were being attacked. Now again it happened within the last 2 weeks, and Barack Obama said again, leave the families alone, lets talk about the issues of our country. Come on people, don’t let the media still the ISSUES AWAY FROM US. People are still losing jobs, homes, and gas is still higher, along with utility bills. Let’s focus on issues and not the problems that they have, because truth be told, we have the same problems, our children are pregnant, are arrested, and so forth. We all experience it. Let’s stick to the issues of America and vote for a president that has our best interest at heart!!

Biden’s daughter made "intimidating statements" to a police officer…………what was the exchange? No one knows at this time. "Blocking the officer’s path" - stepping out in front of him or her; perhaps to underscore what she had to say. Who knows - the details are not available.

Bristol Palin is pregnant at 17 - "no one else’s business - it’s a family matter" says the Obama team. I agree.

Bias; gender-based actions? No. We have a "tough-skined," Alaskan, gun toting mom, female veep nominee, who says  she can lead. And though she may have been vetted by the McCain campaign - it’s time for the American people to VET her. It’s incumbent on each one of us to research and ask tough questions - making ALL the candidates squirm. So what are her thoughts on the AEI / OSP gang? The group that conspired to take this country to war falsely; sacrificing US servicemen and women and countless Iraqi civilians? If she is a reformer; why does she support the Ted Stevens PAC? If ethics are violated on the surface - there are bound to be ethics violations else where. Sheesh - just look at the Charlie Rangel real estate/tax issues coming to the surface; look at Abramoff et al; Congressman Don Young and his ties to the Marianas Islands - human trafficking, sweatshops, sex slavery, etc.

We have enough "crooks in Congress." If we are going to change this country fundamentally, then ALL of us need to do some in depth research versus becoming intellectually atrophied; complacent blobs; sitting our "easy chairs" and accepting what the mass media shoves at our faces as the truth.

So, don’t be offended - all the candidates should be vetted as if our lives depended on it …………………

    …………………………….. because they do!

If Biden had been a VP nominee in 2002, you can be sure this would have made front page news.

The headlines about Palin until recently have been in Alaska State papers, and I’ll bet if you look back you’d find that Biden’s family problems were in the Deleware state papers. Furthermore, the very fact that you found an article to link to in the LA Times proves that this WAS national news at the time.

Oh, please, Kevin. If we’re just talking about timing, then how do you explain the major national papers that reported on Palin’s husband’s DUI 22 years ago, and the snooping into the divorce papers of Palin’s husband’s former business partner?

Besides, this story isn’t just about Biden, it’s about Obama and his judgment- I mean, how well was Biden vetted, anyway?

LOL, psych- I’m kidding. But hopefully that shows how idiotic the lefties sound when trying to employ pretzel logic rationalizations of why all the Palin family’s personal business should be dug up.

On second thought, I hope you guys don’t realize how idiotic you sound. Keep it up!

The best way to make families a non-issue is probably to ignore those who are making them an issue.  You could mock and attack them, I suppose, but then you’re just feeding the trolls.  And it’s bad to feed the trolls.

Michelle Obama is Fair Game because she actively stumps for her husband, making speeches and hosting fund-raisers. That’s pretty much the qualifier, folks.

Appearing on stage for family photo ops doesn’t cut it. Until Bristol or Todd Palin are out there making speeches, they’re out of bounds. Unless Biden’s daughter is out there actively stumping, she too is off-limits under "fair play" rules.

Not everyone plays fair, of course.  You assign yourself to whichever category you belong in by your own words and actions.

I got arrested for the exact same thing. The whole bar was leaving at 2 o’clock. There was a police officer in the parking lot. Apparently someone got him pissed, the  cop was running around trying to catch this guy that was playing keep away in the parking lot. More cops came and the tackled him while the whole bar was huddling around watching. While they were arresting the guy, another cop was threating to pepper spray all of us if we didnt step back. As I was stepping back, the rest of the crowd didnt listen. The cop pepper sprayed the crowd. Everyone started stepping back, but in the blindness of the pepper I stepped forward. I was then handcuffed arms & LEGS and while being led to the cop car when he gave me a little push and I fell flat on my face. I was then arrested for obstruction of justice, after I was taken to the hospital to receive 5 staples on my brow. The D.A. never filed charges, I wish they would have….
