Welcome to 2008, Liberals

September 4th, 2008 By: Michael Merritt | Tags:

Welcome to 2008, where gender roles have broken down.  Where women can become businesspeople and Vice Presidential candidates.  Where men can cook and clean the house.  A year and in a country, where if you try hard enough, you can do anything.

My point?  Todd Palin can take care of Trig when Sarah is doing Vice Presidential duties!  Sometimes tells me he won’t be doing much oil work on the North Slope of Alaska or commercial fishing at Bristol Bay while the two are hunkered down 4,000 miles away in Washington.

It’s time to cut it out with the sexism and preconceived gender roles.  Welcome to 2008.

That would be traditional, conservative, Christians, that hold those views. The liberal side came very close to running a woman for president of the United States. As for sexism, you might want to talk to Bill O’Grady, etc about their attacks on Clinton.

Yet, there Palin is, possibly the next Vice President of the United States.  There are definitely still some "keep ‘em’ in the kitchen" types (even in bluer than blue Connecticut), and I don’t claim to know all the womens’ views of conservative Christians, but the Republican base seems to be accepting Palin.

The people complaining that Palin should be at home are the liberals. They are afraid she could help McCain win so they dig at things that they wouldn’t even touch if she had a "D" beside her name rather than a "R"  Palin’s own political beliefs have plenty of meat in and of themselves. Why they are picking on her family, esp. when she has never been in people’s faces about it, I have no idea

    Rachel,
They are "picking on her family" because her political points are in direct contrast to her private life. They call that hypocrisy where I come from!

Cindy- funny, where I come from, hypocrisy also includes defending candidates from one party from personal smears (arguing fervently that the candidate’s personal life doesn’t affect the job performance) but finding justification to use the same kinds of smears against candidates of the opposing party.
BTW: raising a daughter who takes responsibility for an unplanned pregnancy doesn’t actually conflict with a prolife stance.
