Foiled Obama Assassination Plot?
Four men, all members of a racist motorcycle club, have been arrested in Denver. Denver police believe the men planned to assassinate Democratic nominee for the presidency Barack Obama.
One of the men, Tharin Gartrell, was arrested after a routine traffic stop during which police found two rifles, meth, ammunition and high-powered scopes.
The three men were arrested later. They allegedly admitted they had evil plans.
The FBI says it does not take the plan too serious; the men are low level drug addicts, who can’t tie their own shoelaces.
Still, the threat in itself reminds us that racist killings have not disappeared yet.

Looks like….not. Just some trash-talkin’ meth-heads who are headed to prison.
"Not a credible threat" is precise.
Over at Pandagon someone pointed out that the six Muslim men who had some vague plans to attack an Army base were considered a major threat, while these four guys are deemed not to be a threat even though they had sniper rifles…
Tom- Good point, and I agree. I did a post on this some months ago at Deafening Silence (’More on the Fort Dix Six’). Some of the most memorable assassinations in Western history were the astonishing result of one blunder after another committed by- well, let’s just say ‘not the sharpest tools in the shed.’ They should all be taken seriously. I *did* find it a bit strange that the first in-depth reporting on this I heard was from a reporter who did an extensive interview in jail with the supposed ring leader just hours after he was arrested. That struck me as *bizarre*. Since when do newly-arrested alleged assassins hold court with reporters from their jail cells, spilling all their hopes and plans? Has this happened before and I just never noticed? Seriously, can anybody help me out here with another example? It seems so weird.
