African Leaders to Mugabe: You’re a Hero!
And no, they weren’t even sarcastic: ‘Robert Mugabe was hailed a “hero” by Africa’s longest-serving head of state as he joined his fellow leaders at an African Union summit.’
Now don’t get me wrong, he did a lot of important things for Zimbabwe and he played a huge role in that country’s independence, end of racism, and so on. Sure, that’s all true. But to call that man a hero even after his forces have killed countless members of the opposition, and after he transformed from a president into a dictator, is ludicrous.
He may have been a hero to Africans once, but he should be considered no such thing right now. He has developed into one of Africa’s most ruthless dictators, and power-hungry individuals. The opposition is being hunted down, its leaders forced to flee.
Read the article; one thing is clear. His fellow Africans aren’t willing to do anything against him. They consider him a hero, and will let him get away with killing thousands of his own civilians.
And so it goes.
