Gov. Strickland: No, I’m Not Willing to Be Obama’s VP

June 10th, 2008 By: Michael van der Galien | Tags:

Ouch. Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland (D) about possibly becoming Barack Obama’s running mate: “Absolutely not. If drafted I will not run, nominated I will not accept and if elected I will not serve.”

It’s important to point out that Gov. Strickland is a supporter of Hillary Clinton. One wonders whether Strickland’s words are inspired by anger about the primary process, or whether he simply does not want to run a national campaign (right now).

Strickland was considered by many to be a possible VP candidate for Obama because he’s quite a well-known figure, with experience Obama lacks, and because he’s a governor of an important state in presidential elections. Having Strickland as his VP candidate would raise Obama’s chances of winning Ohio in November.

Strickland realizes that and comments about Obama’s chances of winning Ohio: “I would say somewhere around 5 in a scale of 1 to 10. I think it’s, I just think it’s a challenge because of the nature of our state.”

well that logic would have applied to HRC’s lack of experience as well.  But in either case, peeps say that when they realize that they won’t be picked as VP

Ohio may be the single most important state in the electoral jigsaw Obama must complete.  One Ohio native BHO will definitely NOT ask is the diminuitive lil Dennis K. from Cleveland, who will himself have trouble keeping his own seat.(Interesting, however, is the choice of James Jones or Sam Nunn or even James Webb, whom I had a long bathroom conversation with concerning Vietnam, where we had both served, at a Washington Times powwow a few years ago. Webb is very anti-Pentagon & this is good. But in the end, Barry H. Slick-O has too many weird things going on, including Jim Johnson, a notorious DC-insider, and Eric Holder, Marc Rich’s pal, helping him put together the Veep roster.  I thought this election was about change. If he employs Holder & Johnson, BHO is just another machine-pol cadre dressed up like an adult—-an nomenklatura of the Daley apparat.
