Cheney Rejects Suspending Federal Gas Tax
The Washington Post reports that America’s Vice President Dick Cheney, criticized a proposal to suspend the federal gas tax yesterday. He said that the proposal would ‘provide “minimal” relief to American consumers while avoiding the “main issue” of oil supply and demand.’
‘Cheney called the proposal “a false notion,” saying it would not have much impact. “You might buy a little relief, but it would be minimal,” he said. The proposal “is to some extent a way to avoid addressing the main issue,” which is that oil prices are governed by supply and demand, he said.’
Interestingly enough, Cheney repudiated Republican nominee John McCain; the latter says that he favors a gas tax holiday, as some call it. Barack Obama, the man who will most likely be the Democratic nominee, does oppose the proposal, however.
Embarrassing for McCain? A bit, yeah. But his plan is so terribly opportunistic, that some embarrassment is exactly what he needs.
On the other hand, Cheney’s solutions are probably slightly different from Obama’s. That’s something McCain, in turn, could capitalize on. Basically, when oil prices rise, Greenpeace should be shoved aside for a while. Or that’s, at least, how many people will think.

Cheney says something that makes sense? The world must be ending!
Dick Cheney, or FUtus of Borg as he is affectionately known, has basically restated his public policy. The short version of which is…and the horse you rode in on. His friends are getting filthy rich on Dubya govuhmeant policies. Nuff said.
It is easy to not offer relief when you are not a working class citizen.
