British Church Leader Turns Fascist

April 2nd, 2008 By: Michael van der Galien | Tags:

There’s no other way to put this: when a person says that Muslims should not be allowed to build any more mosques, that person’s close to a fascist. Alison Ruoff, a senior Church of England member” said that “there are enough mosques in this country,” and that buildings mosques in a neighborhood, ‘Islamizes’ the entire neighborhood, resulting in people having to live according to Sharia and Christians being oppressed. Therefore: NO NEW MOSQUES.

It’s the kind of reasoning of an 11-year old. Grown-ups should be smarter than that.

In the West we have the freedom of expression and of religion. If people want to worship in a mosque they’re free to do so; it’s one of the most important principles of Western civilization, arguable even the most important principles / freedom. You don’t solve integration problems by forcing immigrant Muslims to go to Church, or to (secretly) worship at home.

And Mrs. Ruoff seems to understand little about the market; if there are enough mosques in Britain, there would be no need for new mosques. In that case her point would be mute.

The solution to the integration problem in Britain isn’t to oppress British Muslims by making it difficult for them to worship God. Those who are willing to take these kind of measures are dangerous individuals.
