Bush has lied to people and spent 37000 taxpayer dollars on each citizen of Iraq with less-than-scrumptious results. How’s that for civility?
Nice pitch!
Compared to other presidents that is. Way high.
I don’t know, heard this twice and it seems like a lot more cheering than jeering.
The man lives in such a bubble that he never has to interact with the American people. He certainly deserves to be booed on one of the few chances people have to boo him in person.
A question for all you pro-booing folks…
Is it ok for me to boo Senator Clinton or Senator Obama or Senator Kennedy or any other Democrat because they support making it legal to murder unborn babies?
LOL, of course- I didn’t mean compared to a professional major league pitcher or even a minor leaguer.
I’m neither, and I pitch better. Used to be short stop and catcher.
Anyone criticizing ceremonial presidential pitches should pause for a second and wonder why they are always wearing jackets when they pitch.
Consider how hard it is to throw a strike while wearing a bulletproof vest.
Uh, great, Michael….but he’s got a few years on you as well. Do you often boast about having greater athletic prowess than men who are in their 60s?
Pat- I do think booing should be the tactic of last resort as it is uncivil. But how else can frustrated voters express dissatisfaction with Bush since he will be out of office soon and claims he cares nothing for public opinion polls?
Senators Clinton and Kennedy can still be voted out, if you want to aid their political opposition- its a free country.
BTW, the comparison seems a little weak since neither is solely responsible for 30+ years of abortion laws, whereas the Iraq War was begun and planned by Bush with Congress’s approval.
Of course it’s okay to Boo. This is a democracy, express your feeling for your leaders. If you want to boo clinton of Kenedy, boo them too.. boo them all.. no doubt everyone deserves a little booing for one thing or another…
The almost complete incompetence in which the Bush administration has run this country over the past 7 years is worthy of all the boo’s, jeers and heckles a crowd can generate.
And as for other countries laughing at us, I have a couple of points, first.. who cares if they laugh. Second, I’ve traveled all over the world and with a few exceptions elected officials are always fair game for public displays of displeasure. That is what freedom of speech is all about.
Imagine, if you will, a world in which it was not permissible/encouraged to express public displeasure at your country’s leadership?
While I am neither the same Jason as the above nor a Bush-hater generally, I agree with Jason on the point that booing a politician is perfectly acceptable.
In Britain, they do it on the floor of the House of Commons. It is a routine part of political dissent. It does not mean it is well-informed and I would hope that those who boo have more than just sophomoric expressions in their arsenal of arguments (all evidence from BDS types to the contrary), but there is certainly nothing presumptively illegitimate about booing. Also, the boo-ers often need to be reminded that they themselves can be booed and criticized with equal legitimacy (especially lefties who often get very irate when their “criticism” tables get turned on them).
Perhaps the incessantly over-acted claims of grievous wounding by the various political campaigns that have accompanied nearly every expression of political disagreement during the current campaign season has made everyone a little too quick to classify EVERY expression of disagreement as out-of-bounds.
I’ve even been thinking of posting a bold BOO every time Michael posts yet another trivial anti-Obama snipe, but I don’t want to wear out the B and O keys on my keyboard….
That was probably exactly what he was thinking!
Uhh, okay - Congress has members of the democrat party Kim, who ummm - voted…
Yes, it is necessary to boo the president at a ball game. The man lives isolated from the public in his White House cocoon. Perhaps this way he will get the message that most people don’t like his policies.
I am just sorry nobody threw anything at him. That guy is responsible for the deaths of thousands of americans, millions of iraqis, the wholesale theft of billions of american tax payers dollars all in the service his own extremely secretive agenda. The man and his criminal administration ought to be impeached and hanged in the public square.
