"Stupid Whitey", huh? You used that phrase, while neither of the Obamas ever have - and you’re calling them ‘bigots’?

As for the "chin in the air", I suppose every member of our military who keeps their shoulders back, stomachs in, chests out, and chin up is also a snob? It’s called ‘posture’.

And Cheryl, running with unsubstantiated rumors is as dumb as running with scissors - there is no "whitey" tape. Michelle was discussing Bush when she repeatedly said "Why’d he" do this, and "Why’d he" do that, but bigoted people hear what they want to hear and believe what they want to believe… Hell, who needs facts?

Ruth, we all have our own reasons for voting or not voting for a candidate, but just because we disagree with BO or MO doesn’t make us ignorant, uneducated or blind. It called Democracy and freedom of choice, as well as freedom of speech, but onone wants a hatefull, mean-spirited First lady who uses her skin color as a crutch.

The Obama camp loves to make it look like only whites are racist, and Michelle plays up the black victim race card try to make those who don’t agree with Barack, look like the racists, while she calls the rest of American "ignorant". Michelle Obama turned me off long ago with her "black man" speech and then her declaration that only now is she proud to be an American. Talk about a slap at America’s history and the US military!
Now, it is rumored that the GOP dug up a video of Michelle railing against "Whitey" in Rev. Wrights pulpit and will drop that bomb in America’s lap in the fall election if Barack Obama is nominated.

Goodness, how much handwringing can we do about race discussions. We have been discussing, debating, forming policy, throwing money, educating, and creating holidays regarding this issue for 50 years, with a lot of positive results. Who are they kidding…. Most people have got teh message by now, and have adjusted. Mrs. Obama’s pastor however has not figured it out, so the assumption is that the rest of America hasn’t dealt with it. She might want to change her church so she isn’t so blind about the changes that have happened in the last 50 years, regarding race. Enough of the "we need more race dicussions" tripe!!! We need to find another church, if it is stuck in the race ideology of 1935.

I think Michelle hit the nail on the head. The reason the US is so divided now is not because half of us are right and half of us are wrong but because people are holding so tightly to their fears and belief systems that they are no longer capable of having balanced discussion . A blunt word for this mindset is ignorance. People won’t like that word-they will choose, again, predictability, to be offended rather than try to see the truthfulness and hope in what she was saying, and the overwhelmingly positive call to young people to participate fully in democracy. Michelle Obama, as an American, has the right to call it as she sees it. She has a lot of love for the country or she would not be dedicating her own life and that of her family to its service. She is offering work, service, integrity and, yes, some plain, honest talk. I think we could all do with listening to and assessing varying points of view rather than shutting down our understanding at the slightest whiff of "controversy".

I thought here speech was fine. Definitely not another Rev. Wright moment. I have to admit two thoughts came to me during the speech:
1) I was waiting for her to say "vote if you want to stick it to the man."
2) He extended riff on other’s low expectations reminded of GW’s statement "The quiet racism of lowere expectations"

So, no big deal. This was ok but come on this was before the SC primary. That was a long time ago.
