US Death Toll In Iraq: 4,000
At this moment, approximately 4,000 Americans have given their lives for the freedom of Iraq, and of course for the security and interests of their own country. The entire world, but especially Iraqis, owe these brave souls a lot.
However, although 4,000 is much, historically many more people died in wars. Lets keep that in mind whenever we talk about modern day wars. Several Dutch people have died, for instance, in Afghanistan but lets remind ourselves that if we lived 100 years ago, many thousands would have died.
The culture and the way media report about wars have changed so dramatically that people now respond to 4,000 deaths as they once responded to 400,000 deaths.
Yes, it’s horrible for the families of the people who die in wars, but lets be thankful that wars are fought so differently nowadays with the result that the amount of casualties in wars have dropped significantly.

I sort of owe them dick-all. The war is immoral from concept to execution.
Okay, I’ll be generous and give them a “Thanks for trying, but your CoC wasted your sacrifice with the silent assent of your landsmen. Bummer.”
I’m a Soldier in the U.S. Army and when I heard news of the 4000 death mark I became sick to my stomach. I’m lucky enough to have been to Iraq and return home to my family but so many of my fellow Soldiers have not been as fortunate. And in my heart i feel like every one of those 4000 deaths our president is to be blamed for.
I’ve opened up a discussion on my blog so I can talk to people and answer their questions and hopefully make people understand that all military are supporting this war and that every one of those deaths was important and unneeded. I’d like it you’d stop by and toss in your two cents.
I’m all for defending my country but U.S. did not need to be defended from Iraq.
