Nader Tells it Like it Is

March 17th, 2008 By: Michael van der Galien | Tags:

Below the fold is a video of Ralph Nader’s appearance on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Nader explained to Stewart that the two parties have made it virtually impossible for ‘the little parties’ to get on the ballots and that the result of this is that many good ideas don’t make it into the mainstream and that democracy is stifled.

He went on to say that if the two parties were business corporations they would be sued and convicted for violating anti-trust laws (and alike).

I realize that many people aren’t fond of Nader, but I think there’s a whole lot of truth to what he’s saying. I don’t agree with most of his policies, but he’s definitely right on this one.

We needed Ralph Nader as President in 2000.

We needed Ralph Nader as President in 2004.

We NEED Ralph Nader as President in 2008.
Never before as we do now .

Its true, but he accomplishes little of what he seeks by running as a third party candidate when he knows he has no chance of winning or even changing the parties’ platforms. If he believes in a multiple party state, he should lobby for  a parliamentary system.

Yeah, those bastards. They did it about two centuries ago, and we’re still suffering for it! :-O

Seriously, the system is predisposed to two opposing parties, by original construction. Nader’s complaint is that the glacial pace of change this imposes (which is by design) is too slow to suit him.

Ralph, More power to your ideas. Keep working to end this insane war and bring our people home. You’ve been out there making speeches, doing interviews and writing articles and have written at least three books in the last 6 years. And you’ve been writing weekly commentary on the things that really matter, at http://www.nader.org .The question is where has the Press been on these important matters you discuss? where have the "Talking Heads" been on corporate crime and the profiteers of this war? The population is too busy being entertained and watching Sporting events to get involved, they take the EASY route and don’t bother to think, settling instead for snippets and quick slogans. Knowing what’s going on in a Corporate controlled State takes WORK. Thank you Ralph, for all the good things you’ve done to protect the PEOPLE of this Country. Amazing how quickly they forget, or perhaps they just don’t know. Almost everyone’s lives, or that of friends and relatives of theirs, have been improved and made safer because of you, Some wouldn’t be alive today, if not for Ralph Nader! Their minds have been intentionly bombarded with with Corporate propaganda and the Democrat Party scapegoating machine. Obama and Clinton, and that phoney Terry McAuliffe should be ashamed of their comments regarding you. They continue the DNC scapcoating myth. thank you for your great and continued service to your fellow countrymen.  More power to your ideas. http://www.votenader.org….All the rest of you out there, buckle-up! ….

Gotcha seb! this is quickly becoming quite the entertainment for me.  This is the third nader article i’ve found with your oh so honest letter to nader about how incredibly cool he is and how much you wanna hold his hand.  If you do insist on being a proponent of this poor excuse for a candidacy, please don’t just copy and paste the same nonsensical propaganda that sounds like it came straight from the bloated ego of nader himself.

What about Obama’s pro-war, pro-corporate voting record? He’s black, but he’s not progressive. He represents more of the priviledged same.

wow susan. i guess you should have worked for the gore campaign instead…oh wait, that’s right, he was too cowardly or perhaps just indifferent to fight for the presidency, which he @#$%ing won, which is what nader pointed out. stop crying about nader and don’t pretend like you think obama is anything but a corporate shill. he has taken more money from wall street (susan/das - did you hear about that sub-prime mortgage scandal?) than any other candidate. yeah, i can’t wait till he gets in there and does…nothing….

I will vote for Nader in 2008, if he gets on the ballot. He won’t win, but voting is a citizen’s responsibility and all, it will be a conscience vote for me. Clinton and Obama have sold out to sepcial interests out there and somehow their rhetoric about ‘change’ does not sound very authentic. It is clear that they are just trying to exploit the’ dissilusioned with Bush and republicans’ crowd to get them to the big ghouse, but after that, it will be busines as usual. You just watch. Insane McCain is a dunderhead looney, but at least he’s honest about being an asshole, CLinton and Hillary just hide it. Anyway, since all three troglodytes mentioned above have some abhorrent policies which I find disgusting and cruel, I will vote for Nader because he is the ONLY candidate whose views mirror mine. Sorry Obama, you might be black, but you’re still a shill…Hillary…back to Wal Mart…Mr. Insane…back in the airplane….and crash this time!!!!!
