Roger Clemens Heared by US Congress

March 16th, 2008 By: Michael van der Galien | Tags:

It’s utterly amazing, but a US Congressional Committee talked to Roger Clemens yesterday about whether or not he used performance enhancing drugs.

Believe it or not, a US Congressional Committee is still trying to figure out what baseball players used steroids and other performance enhancing drugs. As such the committee, whose chairman is Harry Waxman, asked Roger Clemens about accusations that he has used drugs in the past, specifically steroids.

Here’s a video of the hearing:

Am I the only one who finds this pathetic? Congress doesn’t have anything else to do? They’re talking about steroids in baseball?

And then when they do the incredibly pathetic, they’re making matters even worse by saying things like “you’re my hero.”

Here’s another video, of MSNBC having fun:

Virginia Fox, Republican Virginia, “asked how he got that very impressive physic.” Yeah. Important stuff.

Every time someone wonders why Congress has such low approval ratings (under either party), something like this comes along to demonstrate exactly why.  Contempt is the only sensible reaction.  And yet, they repeatedly do these things.

Way, way too many "safe" districts, leading to way too many members of Congress who don’t even try to do their jobs.

    I agree wj,

It is uselessness, and incompetence at it’s very best.  They get into areas that are not their concern.

Congress is designed to NOT get work done.  Note that when congress DOES things, it is usually bad (Authorize War with Iraq, FUND war with Iraq, etc.)

This is a pretty harmless way for them to spend their time.

Also, it may not matter to you if a  baseball player lies about how he made it ‘big’, but for all the parents of children who love the game, the issue looms large because children will emulate their heroes.

Are you ready to see your children shooting up on HGH?
