Obama Videos: Sorry, But This Is a Religious Movement

Filed under: 2008 elections, Feature — Michael van der Galien, Editor-in-Chief on March 7, 2008 @ 4:00 pm CET

I know that quite some here take offense at my strong opposition to Barack Obama, but I have a major problem with a person who presents himself as the secular Messiah. Simon Woods, a volunteer for Hillary Clinton, puts it quite right: “It’s not an argument for better government; it’s an exhortation to see the light. It’s not a plan for the Presidency, but a leap of faith.”

Here’s one of the videos, it’s interesting to see that even Obama’s strongest supporters in the blogosphere aren’t comfortable with this kind of rhetoric:

Just watch it.

This is… troubling. Frankly I don’t care what others have to say about this: this is a cult. This is a religious movement. The Awakening. “We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.” Pardon me? You all are nothing of the kind.

The most troubling thing is that the change… the change seems to be Obama. Notice the chanting of his name in the clip. The entire idea of the video is to present Obama as a Messiah.
