That’s Just Great
Well, one gets the impression that the parties that won the elections in Pakistan this week do indeed represent change. Not the kind of change foreign policy haws were looking forward to though: “The winners of Pakistan’s parliamentary elections said Tuesday that they would take a new approach to fighting Islamic militants by pursuing more dialogue than military confrontation” with them.
Wonderful. We all know that talking solves all problems, especially when the problems are Islamic extremists. Come to think of it, why hasn’t the US ever tried to talk to, say, Osama Bin Laden after his minions destroyed the World Trade Center? I’m sure that would have payed off.
I mean, if you want to know just how effective “dialogue” is with these people I’d say just look at the situation in Palestine. It’s perfectly clear that all the “dialogue” with people like Yasser Arafat has truly improved the situation.
