Denmark On a Roll
First the Danes foiled a conspiracy to murder journalists and artists linked to the Mohammed cartoons. Then, to prove the power of free speech, Danish (and other) newspapers reprinted the images.
Now Danish legislators have refused Iran’s demand that they condemn the re-publication.
A group of Danish lawmakers has canceled a trip to Iran because Tehran demanded they condemn the reprinting of Prophet Muhammad cartoons in newspapers.
…
Mette Vestergaard, a committee official, confirmed the cancellation. “The Iranian ambassador asked the Foreign Policy Committee to condemn the drawings. They can’t and they won’t”
My great-grandmother emigrated from Copenhagen around 1910 but I’ve never had a chance to go to Denmark. I’d like to, someday.
Judging from recent events, the country seems to be unique among European nations in its desire to keep itself free of the Islamic invasion that has caused so many cultural, legal, and criminal problems in France, England, Spain, and Germany, among others.
Update
Danes are paying the price for their temerity as “immigrant youth”, a term that often is media code for Islamic troublemakers, have been terrorizing Denmark’s cities for the last several nights.
Youths were arrested overnight in Copenhagen, Aarhus, Ringsted, Slagelse and other cities, police spokesman Jan Marker said. At least 19 cars were torched in Copenhagen, he said.
It’s easy to be brave from this side of the Atlantic, but I hope Denmark sticks to its guns vis-a-vis protecting and exercising freedom of speech as it’s imperative that all western nations hold the line on our freedoms and way of life.
Note that this is not an anti-immigrant statement per se. Legal immigrants can be a wonderful asset to a nation’s population - if they assimilate into the culture of their new homeland. Muslims - and Americans, etc., for that matter - do not have the right to expect another country to adapt itself to them simply because they’d like it to.
Having failed at their assimilation, I’d like to say to the Danish “youth” that there are dozens of countries in the world in which their views are considered normal. Stop burning other people’s cars and throwing Molotav Cocktails at schools and go live in one of them. Just don’t expect the comforts of the evil western world there.

Go Danes! More countries need to stand up to Islamo/Facism like this. It is important not to compromise our values in the face of bullies.
Agreed. While freedom of speech does not account for taste, it should not have to either.
Denmark hopefully will not be the last to stand up for the right to offend.
Wikipedia, while not a state, resists as well:

Hopefully this sort of late game spine growth will be contagious in Europe. Not holding my breath.
