Canada abandons UN anti-racism conference
“Canada has withdrawn its support for a UN anti-racism conference slated to take place in South Africa next year,” the Globe and Mail reports. The reason: ‘The so-called Durban II conference “has gone completely off the rails” and Canada wants no part of it, said Jason Kenney, secretary of state for multiculturalism and Canadian identity.’
“Canada is interested in combatting racism, not promoting it. We’ll attend any conference that is opposed to racism and intolerance, not those that actually promote racism and intolerance,” he said.
As if that’s not enough, he went on to say: “Our considered judgment, having participated in the preparatory meetings, was that we were set for a replay of Durban I. And Canada has no intention of lending its good name and resources to such a systematic promotion of hatred and bigotry.”
The reason? The Arab nations once again singled out Israel and did everything in their power to discredit and attack the Jewish nation-state. “Arab and Muslim countries ganged up in their criticisms of Israel. Israel and the United States walked out in protest; the Liberal government of the day remained in an effort to decry the attacks.”
The UN Human Rights commission is a joke. No matter what the Arab countries do, they’re only making fools of themselves. They can gang up on Israel as much as they want to, but the reality is that every Western country is turning its back on them.
