Blogging the Koran

Robert Spencer, expert on Islam, has been blogging the Koran for weeks now. Today he blogged the 13th Sura, “The Thunder.” You can find links to earlier posts in this series here. They’re all worth the read, although the comment sections don’t always make one very happy, but you can’t possibly hold Robert responsible for that. It’s also important to point out that a lot of things are a matter of interpretation. Keep that in mind, then read it. If you just want the Koran without Robert’s comments, go here.

    If I were to quote verses from the Talmud about the justification of violence against non jews and lace it with xenophobia from the Old Testament, the Jewish thought police would clamp down on me with labels of ‘anti-Semite’ and make an outcast of me.

    However, its ok for an ‘Islam expert’ (read: Hate monger)to quote the Quranic verses out of context and demonise muslims since that is obviously ‘freedom of speech.’

    Clearly the Muslim world has so much to learn from you.

(5) Public figures are considered open to all substantive criticism of their policies and statements. Comments that present objectively false factual information about public figures (i.e. "Obama is a Muslim") or that attack public figures by attacking their families are not welcome. Comments that merely repeat slogans for or against a candidate without engaging in substantive comment are not welcome.
