Anti-Islam Movie Cause for Great Concern

I just finished writing an article for Pajamas Media about the latest controversy in the Netherlands. MP Geert Wilders made a movie about Islam, described by himself as intended to show that Islam is intolerant, aggressive and encourages terrorism. Several Muslim organizations and individuals - here and abroad - have already warned that airing the movie could result in tremendous riots, and the Dutch government has already told its embassies in Muslim countries to prepare for quick evacuations. O, and Mayors have been told to be ready for riots here as well. That article will be published soon, I hope, but here’s Holly’s take on it. Below the fold you can watch the movie’s promo / teaser.

Good, More truth needs to be shed on Islam. It does not seem like there are any moderate Islamic leaders out speaking frequently and with enough force behind their words to slow the growth of the Militant Islamic Terrorist Movement. People should know the truth about something that breeds this level of hatred and this level of violence. Before 9/11 I was willing to give muslims the benifit of the doubt, but now, after 9/11 I would have to say the absolute silence of Muslims and the large number of Muslim sympathysers has made me feel much less trusting of people who are Muslim. If you want my trust, you have it. If you break my trust, you must earn it. So far Muslims as a whole have only continued to prove they are undeserving of trust. The violence they project to completely minor insults to themselves shows they are as a whole intolerant barbarians just waiting to erupt. If you want my trust Muslims, then you better accept the fact that people will insult you and you are free to insult them back, but threats of violence and death for people who insult only prove you to be a bunch of barbarians following a cult that should be wiped out of civilization once and for all. It is upon yourselves Muslims to show that you are civilized and capable of being good citizens.
It seems to be more of a hero-worship movie of that far-right politician in the Netherlands. It may even be a worthless film full of distortions and lies, but I don’t see that as the issue in this case.
Without going into what the actual content of the film is, I think it’s a sad statement to the way things are in the Islamic world that whole governments have to brace for violent attack because some people feel that they have the right to not be offended.
Especially galling is the threat of violence from people living within those free societies. They are happy to take advantage of the better quality of life that a freedom offers (freedom being inseparable from freedom of speech) just as long as you don’t touch THEIR sacred taboos.
So this film will go out. Riots may ensue, people may even die, or a bomb be placed. And the name of Islam will be even further driven into the ground, not by the film, but by the reaction to it.
Kudos to the Dutch government for not trying to stop the film. There’s already way too much self-censorship (out of fear, NOT out of respect) as it is. The extremist, be they a minority or not so much of a minority, will have to learn that the West will not do without it’s freedoms just to suit their microscopic little brains.
I see I spoke too soon about the reactions of the Dutch government. From The Guardian:
Oh yes it most certainly does. The double standard is as breathtaking as it is scandalous. No Dutch channel is willing to run the film, but I’d bet cold hard cash that had it been about criticizing Christians, even if the allegations were blatantly false and bigoted, some channel would run it, and calls to ban it would be met with universal condemnation in the name of free speech.
They should at least have the minimum honesty to admit the truth: it’s not that they don’t want this to run because it’s disrespectful, it’s because they’re afraid. At least have the peanut-sized cojones to admit you’re afraid, if you don’t have them big enough to fight for your country, as you were elected to do.

And the grand mufty of Syria has also weighed in, threatening that the result of the movie may be "war and bloodshed."
Awwww, cut ‘em some slack. If there was a movie coming out about you that was intended to portray you as "intolerant, aggressive and encourages(ing) terrorism, well, what would you do? The obvious answer is to be intolerant of such a pic, to be aggressive and encourage terrorism. That’ll learn ‘em!

But Islam *is* intolerant and aggressive, and it does encourage terrorism.
Freedom of Speech! Air the show!!
What Mr Wilders should do is not only tear up the Koran, but the Bible as well. Then watch how differently Christians and Muslims worldwide display their offended sensibilities.

I like your idea but unfortunatley we already know the outcome of such a display.
The plain and simple truth is that Europeans have and still are attempting to change the meaning of the word "freedom" into a meaning that puts Islam on a pedestal that is untouchable "BY LAW" from critisizm.
Like it or not, when we become so craven that you place violent people who’s heart and souls are completley ingrained in the worshiping of a warlord on a pedestal, they become our masters.
Who can blame them when they see our best attempts at repelling thier insane culture is to see who can curl up in a fetal position the fastest.
Europeans will at some point realize that thier problems they face with thier new masters of islam, was not the fault of islam but the fault of themselves for not being up to the challenge of quashing it in thier own streets.

The promo/teasers are fake, they are not from Geert Wilders. He did not yet release anything. Nobody knows what in the small movie, but everybody talks about it. It’s a big hoax, that just illustrates the dhimmitude and cowardiness of the Dutch (government).

just because of a few rotten apple doesnt mean the entire basket is bad, just because some of moslems are intolerant and aggressive, and do encourage terrorism doesnt mean that islam is bad, not at all, if u wanna offend someone please refer to the person, not the beliefs
