Pre-empting Each Other

Once results of primaries come in, the losers give a concession speech and the winner holds a victory speech. Normally, the candidates all let each other finish before giving their own speech.

Yesterday was slightly different however. According to Hot Air, Mitt Romney promised to wait for John McCain to finish his speech, which McCain would give after Mike Huckabee had given his. But, in the middle of McCain’s speech Romney suddenly also gave his speech and the networks ignored whatever it was that McCain had to say and focused on the winner. The result? McCain angry.

But McCain is being slightly hypocritical considering the fact that he interrupted Huckabee. Huckabee was in the middle of giving his speech when McCain started talking and the different networks immediately ignored the former Governor of Arkansas.

Here’s the proof.

Now, McCain’s people can call Mitt Romney and his team “no dignity, no class, and no couth” but that’s quite hypocritical. If that’s so, what does this make McCain himself?

Of course the average voter couldn’t care less about this stuff, but hey; we’ve got to write about something.

On a related point, I can’t help but wonder what would happen in the unlikely event that Fred Thompson actually won a primary. Would he be awake long enough to give the acceptance speech?

    Fred: Zzzzzz …
Aide: Fred! Senator! Wake up, sir! You just won!
Fred: Zz .. Huh? Protect the Border! Liberal! uh Washington Insider! Cut Taxes and Support the Troops! Eh .. what did you say?
    Aide: You won, sir!
Fred: Okay. Tell ‘em I’ll talk to them about it tomorrow on the radio.
