Richardon To Send Voters Obama’s Way?

January 3rd, 2008 By: Michael van der Galien | Tags:

According to the Iowa Independent, Bill Richardon’s campaign is set to instruct its supporters in districts where the Governor won’t get 15% of the vote, to support Barack Obama. If true, this could very well cause Obama to - indeed - win in Iowa today.

The reason, according to the II: “Richardson would prefer an Obama victory over Clinton because a Clinton victory could end the campaign before New Hampshire voters even head to the polls. And if Edwards’s numbers look weak, Richardson could head to New Hampshire as the best alternative to the top two contenders for the Democratic nomination.”

The Carpetbagger adds that Richardson isn’t the only one who may instruct his supporters to vote for Obama: Kucinich has already done the same and Senator Joe Biden may very well do the same thing. The reason that Biden may choose to support Obama in this way? “Davis chatted with one of Biden’s national consultants, asking if the Delaware senator is angling for a Secretary of State position in an Obama Administration. The Biden consultant said, ‘Well, Joe would make a great Secretary of State, wouldn’t he?’”

Blue Hampshire contacted Richardson’s campaign:

Hi this is Joaquin with the Richardson Campaign and the rumor is false- there are no deals. These are typical last minute election shenanigans.
Joaquin H. Guerra

That could very well be true, of course, but it could also be untrue, but that Richardson doesn’t want to make it ‘too public’ yet (because it may hurt his chances of finishing in a good, solid fourth place).
I’ve contacted the campaign as well, and Obama’s and Biden’s campaign. Will let you know what the reactions are.

It looks increasingly better for Obama, doesn’t it? At the same time, Hillary Clinton must feel like everyone’s against her suddenly. I mean… Richardson: isn’t that the same guy many people thought could be Clinton’s choice for VP?
