In what will probably cause quite a controversy, the New York Times is set to announce that neoconservative Bill Kristol will have a weekly Times column in 08.
The Anonymous Liberal explains why the NYT decided to ask Kristol to become a columnist for them: “The key to reaching the pinnacle of your profession is, apparently, to be 1) catastrophically wrong about everything, 2) utterly unwilling to acknowledge error, 3) willing to repeatedly lie and mislead your readers, and 4) completely batshit crazy,” he writes.
Although I’m not a big fan of Kristol - who’s less of an independent thinker and more of a propagandist - I’ve got to say that opposing him becoming a columnist for one newspaper or another is a bit silly (as some commenters at the HuffPo do). Let the man speak his mind. And: although he has been wrong about some things, he has also been right about other things, such as the surge.
Credit where credit is due.

Instead they hire Bill Kristol, who is to evil what Jonah Goldberg is to stupid.

December 29, 2007 @ 5:26 pm CETI guess the AL is describing Paul Krugman? Those are exactly my thoughts on him. I am not a big Kristol fan either - I could see how those on the left see him. Maybe he is the balance to Krugman.
