Kirk on Neoconservatives
I stumbled upon this article this morning: Russel Kirk on neoconservatives.
Provides for a very interesting read.

Another intellectually stimulating post by MVDG.
Good choice. Thanks.
Kirk reminds us how much more meaningful public discourse used to be before the age of sound bite news and discussions via competing slogans.
I only regret that Mr. Kirk’s 1988 article will not be updated in 2007.
PS I welcome especially the reintroduction of the ‘human condition’ concept. The term, in the broadness of its scope, offers the opportunity to step out of narrow isms for a more inclusive look at what has been proposed as explanation and cure and what has actually transpired.
Glad you enjoyed it Doma.
Yes I agree. That being said, there are reasonable voices out there - it is just more difficult to hear them because of all the shouting going on by others.
I have to say - I found this article via another blogger. But I don’t remember what blog. To that blogger: sorry for not crediting you… just don’t remember…
What I also found interesting about the article is that Kirk greatly understimated the impact the neocons would have in the years to come.
By which i mean, if conservatives would have taken neoconservatives a bit more seriously, perhaps they wouldn’t be have the power / influence they’ve got today.
