Got Time to Spare?

If so you should consider helping Delara Darabi (and other women): a twenty year old young woman, and artist, currently on death row in Iran. You can get involved by contacting Ali Eteraz.

I have sent Ali an e-mail already, please consider doing the same.

I had my fingers on the keyboard to send an E-mail, when a thought struck me: Could support from overseas, particularly the US, be used against her and her supporters?

Doma: that is a good question but I think that the ones who are involved already know best. They did not say that you have to be Muslim or Iranian, etc. Of course, if that is the case, they will say so. I am sure that if it will hurt her case, Ali et alia would not try to get the support from people like yourself. I sent an e-mail - if it hurts the case, they will say so and then I will do what I can by simply drawing attention to the case every now and then, but… I think that this is a true “all help is useful” case.

I am already very busy but I thought… I cannot sit by and let this happen without trying to do something. You know, you’re 80 years old looking back at your life and have to think to yourself “well, poor girl, but I was too busy you know”.

    Okay.

Comments that violate these standards may be edited or deleted without notice at the sole discretion of the editors. Commenters who repeatedly or egregiously violate these standards or who attempt to argue publicly with editors regarding the comments policy may be banned from commenting further.

(1) Comments should address the substantive content of the post. Comments that repeatedly or blatantly misrepresent the content of the post or of others' comments are not welcome. Comments that respond to something other than which the contributor or commenter may have said are irrelevant and should not be posted.

(3) Comments should not personally attack the character, personal integrity, or professional reputation of any PoliGazette contributor or of other commenters.

Link spam, trackback spam, and propaganda spam will be instantly deleted.

(5) Public figures are considered open to all substantive criticism of their policies and statements. Comments that present objectively false factual information about public figures (i.e. "Obama is a Muslim") or that attack public figures by attacking their families are not welcome. Comments that merely repeat slogans for or against a candidate without engaging in substantive comment are not welcome.

Questions or challenges to these policies or their application should be directed to the editors by email only.
